As the grantmaking population becomes
better informed on the importance of outcome-based measurements,
grantseekers should be prepared to clearly state goals and anticipated
results. In the eyes of a foundation, individual donor, government
or corporate contributor, you are only as good as your ability to
communicate the community’s needs, your plans to address them,
and how your efforts will create positive outcomes.
Being a small non-profit usually means that each
person wears a variety of hats and rarely has the appropriate amount
of time to research prospects and create compelling proposals. You
know that your program is effective and is affecting change. It is imperative to find the right funders to support your programs and equally important that your
requests convey the impact that you are making in the community.
